Recipe - Swedish Waffles

Today March 25 is "the" Våffeldagen in Sweden - the official Waffle Day. Actually , it is the Feast of the Annunciation, or Lady Day, nine months to the day before Christmas. The very day the Archangel Gabriel told the Virgin Mary that she was pregnant.
And today we eat tons of Waffles. Don't ask me what the Annunciation really has to do with Waffles, but waffles we eat! Heart-shaped, crisp, delicous waffles served with whipped cream and jam. They should be served somewhat hot, letting the cream softly melt down ... so good ...

This is a very nice recipe I translated from arla . Usually we Swedes make our waffles on heart shaped waffle irons, but any type will do.

Crisp Swedish Waffles
8 - 10 waffles

3 1/2 dl flour
2 tsk baking powder
2 dl milk
2 1/2 dl water
100 gr melted butter

Mix flour and baking powder in a bowl. Add the milk. Whip until smooth. Add the water and the butter (let the butter cool before adding it). Heat up the waffle iron and butter the iron for the first baking.
Serve the waffles with whipped cream and jam. Preferably strawberry or raspberry jam.
